For travelers planning a holiday in Zimbabwe – what to buy for your holiday to Zimbabwe? The best thing is to be prepared and get everything that you think my will need before leaving. Zimbabwe is a third world country in Africa, and you will not find fancy shops and large shopping malls here, even in Harare and Bulawayo. You may find some adequate facilities and smaller shops, but don’t expect to find things you need like plug adapters, camera memory or any medication you may need. Prices are notoriously high for almost everything in the country, and many items are simply not available.
As for what to buy, look out for traditional Matabele and Shona curios and artwork, as well as a range of other items that are found at local markets and side of the road stalls. Matobas has an excellent market with plenty of local goods – just be prepared for sky high prices.
