While the country has its fair share of problems over the past decade, and the political situation is by no means stable at this point, when travelling in a tour group or on an overlanding safari you will not have to worry about safety issues. To make sure that your trip is happy and problem free, keep these tips in mind when travelling to Zimbabwe:
• While the political situation is improving slowly, there is still a lot of discontent in the country – try to avoid large crowds that may turn violent.
• Be careful when photographing in towns and cities, especially if you are near any courts, police stations or other political buildings, which are not allowed to be photographed.
• Petty crime is not very common, but just to be safe, keep valuables safely locked away and out of site – the poor economy can make people desperate, so pickpocketing may occur in the larger cities.
