A day-by-day breakdown of what to expect and where you'll be staying.
Day 1, Windhoek
A leisure day to enjoy the many sights and sounds of Windhoek and prepare for more adventure in Africa. Tour the city, markets and historic sites before trying a Zebra steak at Joe's.
Day 2, Windhoek to Waterberg Plateau
We depart for the Waterberg Plateau National Park today. This haven for many endangered species is also the historic site of the German-Herero war. Explore the park at your leisure with a self-guided walk made easy by well marked hiking trails. There are also optional game drives available.
Day 3, Waterberg National Park to Etosha National Park
Leaving the picturesque Waterberg Plateau we head through some stunning scenery as we aim for Etosha National Park - jewel of African wildlife parks.
Day 4, Etosha National Park
We have a full day of game driving, making our way from east to west, across 150kms of the park. We relax this evening listening to the sounds of Africa. Floodlit waterholes allow us to get as close to the action as possible, and still be behind the fence!
Day 5, Etosha National Park to Swakopmund
A final game drive as we wind our way out of the park and head south and west to the coastal advnture town of Swakopmund.
Day 6, Swakopmund
A leisure day today to get the feel of this quaint German town sandwiched between the edge of a massive dune field and the ocean. Take on some adventure activities or relax in a cafe on the beachfront.
Day 7, Swakopmund to Sesriem
Today we head south, past Walvis Bay enroute to Sesriem. Close by and surrounded by a sea of sand dunes, is Sossusvlei. The top of the dunes, some over 300m high, offers fantastic vies of the desert. We spend the afternoon exploring. One of the optional "must do's" is to walk in this area with the highly specialised local guides of Sossus on Foot who will have some amazing stories to tell. Tonight, a sunset view from the top of a big dune will prove to be one of your most memorable experiences.
Day 8, Sesriem to Sesriem (via Sossusvlei)
An early start as we enter into the park and head for Dune 45. Clamber to the top for a stunning high-point view over the dunes. We continue to Sossusvlei and from here you will have your own free time to explore the vlei or the surrounding area. Stunning photographic opportunities are available in the dunes so bring those cameras!!
Day 9, Sesriem to Aus
Departing from the Namib Naukluft park we travel south to the Aus region where, if we are really lucky, we might see some of the famous wild Namib desert horses!
Day 10, Aus to Fish River Canyon
Further south we reach the second largest canyon in the world - Fish River Canyon, and participate in an optional walk along the rim. Our lodge is nestled amongst beautiful desert scenery and the stark landscape can be breathtaking!
Day 11, Fish River Canyon to Lamberts Bay
Crossing into South Africa over the historic Orange River we travel to the coast and gorgeous Lamberts Bay. Crossing from the stark Richtersveld region into the colourful Namaqualand area (known for its wildflowers) is a big contrast in scenery!
Day 12, Lamberts Bay to Cape Town (via Namaqualand)
We visit a rare colony of Cape Gannet this morning before heading past the West Coast National Park and down to Cape Town. The afternoon is free to spend how you wish - take a trip up Table Mountain, or visit the nearby V&A Waterfront, the choice is yours.
Day 13, Cape Town
Your tour ends this morning after breakfast. Make sure to spend a few extra days exploring this cosmopolitan city - the Mother City of South Africa.
