Day 1, Cape Town to Sutherland

Leaving Cape Town we travel to our lunch stop at Matjiesfontein. This unusual little 'one horse town' thrives in it's history. After lunch we head for Sutherland, home to very clear night skys and SALT, the largest telescope in the Southern Hemisphere.

Day 2 to 3, Sutherland to Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park

Travelling through the glorious Karoo region we spend a night at Brandvlei.

We then continue on to the Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park where we will explore the red sand dunes and try to find the famous black-maned Kalahari Lions.

Day 4, Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park

Lying on the edge of the Kalahari Desert, the Kgalagadi National Park consists of red sand dunes, sparse vegetation and a couple of dry river beds. Surprisingly it is a haven for birds especially birds of prey!

Keep an eye out for plains game and predators as well!

Day 5, Kgalagadi Transfrontier National Park to Augrabies National Park

An early starts allows time for a last game drive before we leave the park and head to a local wine farm for a taste of the local brew.

Continuing on we enter the Augrabies National Park where we can view the (usually) thundering Augrabies Waterfall.

Day 6, Augrabies National Park to Orange River - South Africa

Travelling further north we reach the border with Namibia and the historic Orange River - the longest river in South Africa and home to over 140 bird species.

We spend tonight around the campfire on the banks of this peaceful river.

Day 7, Orange River - South Africa to Namaqualand

Turning around at the border we now travel south to the glorious Namaqualand and Bokkeveld areas and tonights stop, Nieuwoudtville. Springtime wildflowers make this region a riot of colour and the local waterfall is one of the most beautiful in the country.

This afternoon we can explore the town on a tractor or wagon tour.

Day 8, Namaqualand to Lamberts Bay

The West Coast awaits with it's long stretches of white beaches and plenty of marine life.

If you are a seafood lover, roll up your sleeves as this is seafood heaven!

Day 9, Lamberts Bay to Cape Town

Leaving the beach we head to a dusty little farming town in the middle of nowhere. This dusty little town however, is famous for a very well-known, crossdressing, politically vocal, performer and resident, "Tannie" Evita Bezuidenhout.

After our hilarious theatre production we finish our trip in the 'Mother City' of Cape Town.
