Uganda wildlife is fairly diverse, despite the impact that poaching, civil war and other environmental issues have had on animal populations. Ongoing warfare in some parts of the country has also had a huge impact, even in the national parks and protected areas.
Animals in Uganda
Animals in Uganda include a number of species found in the protected forests and national parks of this country. African elephant, spotted hyena, leopard, lion, jackal, baboons, chimpanzees, gorilla, warthogs, and giant forest hog can all be seen, along with a huge array of reptiles and insects. Of all of these animals, the gorilla and chimpanzee is the most famous in Uganda, both of which are extremely endangered – the mountains of Uganda and neighbouring Rwanda are some of the only remaining natural habitats for these primates, who are in huge danger from poachers and hunters.
