Of all the Uganda airports, Entebbe Kampala International Airport is the only international airport. The airport is situated about 25 miles (40km) southwest of Kampala, with a number of facilities including bars and restaurants, duty-free shopping, craft and gift shops, a business communication centre, and tourist information desk. Car hire services and taxis are also available, with banks and 24 hour foreign exchange in both arrivals and departures.
Airports in Uganda
Being a third world country, airports in Uganda are not on a par with international airports in the US or Europe, however Kampala’s international airport is fairly well run. Airport taxis offer a direct, fixed-rate service to Kampala International Airport for US$25, while shuttle buses operate a service to hotels across the city. Small commuter buses can be identified by a blue square or band, offering a cheap and easy way to travel between the airport and Entebbe (2 miles/4km), and Entebbe and Kampala (one hour away).
