As a constitutional right, the law allows people to freely practice any religion; however Islam has been the primary religion for thousands of years.
As an Islamic country, visitors need to respect the culture and regulations found in the country. Women need to cover their hair when visiting mosques, and respect for prayer times should also always be given. The Turks are proud of their heritage, and respect for this is essential when travelling through the country.
