There are well over 1100 species of Tanzania birds. You can realistically expect to see between 50 and 100 different bird species in a single day, with experienced twitchers able to spot even more. About 30 endemic bird species are found in the Eastern Arc mountains, making this one of the most important birding areas of the country.

Some of the endemic species include Udzungwa Forest Partridge, Pemba Scops Owl, Nduk Eagle-Owl, Pemba Green Pigeon, Uhehe Fiscal, Uluguru Bushshrike, Reichenow`s Batis, Usambara Akalat and Iringa Akalat.
Birding Tanzania
The best Tanzania birding hot-spots are Arusha National Park and Lake Manyara National Park for waterbirds and forest dwellers, and Serengeti and Tarangire for raptors and woodland and grassland species. For river-dwellers, Selous is highly recommended.
