The towns in Tanzania that lie on the Lake Victoria have a very
tropical feel and there is a busy network of boats and vessels between
the towns. The most fascinating fact about Lake Victoria is that
it is the world's second largest freshwater lake and the largest
in Africa.
Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda all share the waters of Lake Victoria,
with more than half of the lake lying in Tanzania. Lake Victoria
is considered to be the source of the Nile River and there are many
small islands which are home to a variety of wildlife. Enjoy a fishing
expedition, cast your line out and try your luck at catching the
Nile Perch fish.
The majority of the towns on the Tanzania side of Lake Victoria
are very rustic with many friendly locals. There is generally a
lack of tourists in these villages, making it a perfect area for
travellers to mingle with Africa’s real people.
