Syria People - Overlanding Africa.com

Syria people you may meet on your OverlandingAfrica.com trip consist largely of native Syrians, with Kurds as the biggest minority group. Other people that live in Syria include Armenians, Turks and Circassians.

Overall, the country has a young and developing population, with over half the population being under the age of 15 years. Syrians are well-educated, and take pride in their work. A large percentage of Syrians are in the farming industries, and about 25% of the population is economically active. While most Syrians speak Arabic, French is also spoken – especially by older citizens. English is also widely spoken, with mostly the younger and middle aged groups speaking English.

As a nation, Syrians place great value on tradition, religion and family, and are very proud of their cultural heritage. They are also friendly, love to talk and will always make visitors feel welcome.
