Health Precautions in Syria – Health
Generally speaking, there are no major health precautions in Syria – heal facilities are found in most of the larger towns and cities, and pharmacies are well-stocked with basic medication that you may require. Pharmacists speak English relatively well, and if travellers remember to ask for ‘foreign’ EU or US medicine rather than the sometimes dubious local medicine (that is hard to trace in its origins or derivatives) then there should be little or no problems.
The important thing is to stay healthy during your travels – drink bottled water when in doubt, and always ask the locals if the tap water is safe for drinking. Avoid food from road side stalls, and look for restaurants that are busy to know which ones to choose when eating out. Some food may be rich, and could cause tummy issues for those with sensitive stomachs. Take a basic first aid kit with you containing anti-nausea and anti-diarrhoea pills.
