If you have concerns about a specific 'nearby' country let me know and I can tell you how it is 'on the ground' down here in Africa. Have fun! :)

Tania - OverlandingAfrica.com25 Aug 2009: Hi Heike, It is fine to drive to Mbabane from Johannesburg and most rental companies can provide you with a map if you request one. Unleaded petrol is approx R7.85 per liter at the moment. Chauffeur driven cars can be requested from car rental companies. Contact any of them for advice and prices.
Heike25 Aug 2009: Is it reasonably wise and safe to drive alone from Johannesburg airport directly to Mbabane in a rental car in daylight hours? May I assume that the car rental company will provide a useful map to get me there and back? I understand that car rental is much more expensive in Swaziland.... Oh, and how much can I expect to pay for a litre of fuel/gas/petrol? Is it possible to hire a driver for this trip? Thank you!
