Kosi Bay Budget Travel

Kosi Bay is a series of four interlinked lakes in the Maputuland area of KwaZulu-Natal Province in South Africa.

The area form part of the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, and is situated only 2 kilometres from the Mozambique border, making Kosi Bay budget travel ideal for tours between South Africa and Mozambique.

Kosi Bay Budget Safaris

Kosi Bay budget safaris are the ideal way to explore the coastline, with nearby towns offering a range of affordable accommodation options, as well as camping opportunities within the reserve.

The main highlight of this area is the prolific bird life which can be seen. Bird species include the Palm-nut vulture, White-backed night-heron, and the kingfisher.

Other wildlife and animals in the area include crocodiles, duiker, Leatherback and Loggerhead turtles which come to nest on the shores and there is also an aggressive population of Bull sharks, which come into the estuary via the nearby sea. These sharks are locally known as Zambezi sharks.

Fishing is a huge industry in Kosi Bay, with the main fishing method being fish traps which are placed all along the estuary to trap fish moving in and out of the area with the tide.
