Bourkes Luck Potholes Budget Travel

Bourkes Luck Potholes budget travel offers a chance to witness the natural phenomena found in Blyde River Canyon in the province of Mpumalanga in South Africa.

Over thousands of years, where the Blyde River (“river of joy”) and the Treur River (“river of sorrow”) meet, cylindrical rock sculptures were created by rock and sand carried by the Treur River which ground large, potholes into the river’s bedrock.

This incredible formation was discovered by Tom Burke, a gold digger staked a claim nearby, who had never produced a single ounce of gold. The Potholes were named after the unsuccessful Bourke.

Bourkes Luck Potholes Budget Safaris

Located on the picturesque Panorama Route, close to Graskop, Bourkes Luck Potholes budget safaris are a must-try on any South African getaway.

Highlights include the visitor centre which provides information about the canyon’s origins and the flora and fauna; the potholes who are a 700 meter away from the visitor centre; crossing bridge and navigating paths; 5km trails which branch off the site and go through the canyon; and the Interpretive trail and the Bushman trail both offer good hiking.
