A stunning nature reserve along the Garden Route is the dense Tsitsikamma
National Park. The area stretches out between Nature's Valley and
the mouth of the Storms River. The forest area is like a wonderland
that contains yellowwood trees and a unique animal world. It is
said that there are still a few elephants remaining in the Tsitsikamma
forest.
There are many hiking trails that go through the Tsitsikamma National
Park and the most popular one is the Otter Trail that is 48 km.
The Tsitsikamma National Park is one of the largest protected marine
areas in the world and a large portion of the area is covered in
indigenous fynbos.
There is a diverse array of wildlife and birdlife in this evergreen
forest with many trails that extend into rocky paths that lead to
the sea.
