Cape Town Shark Cage Diving

Cape Town is the shark diving capital of the world, with visitors from all corners of the globe flocking to the Cape to experience the thrill of diving with sharks. The main areas for shark diving are around Gansbaai and Stilbaai. The waters here contain a number of Great White Sharks, making it ideal for shark cage diving.

Anyone can experience sharking cage diving, even without a scuba diving certificate. Experienced divers are able to swim in a cage lowered further down into the ocean, and novices are lowered just below the surface. Scuba gear is used for the duration of the swim.

A typical shark experience will start with a boat trip to the shark viewing area, followed by a talk on procedures. Divers are then lowered in their cage, where they are able to view sharks swim past. Great Whites are in danger of extinction, and shark projects help to educate the public on sharks to change the negative perception that sharks have had for so long.

Seeing these incredible animals up close in their natural habitat is an awe-inspiring experience, and will be the highlight of any holiday.
