'Home' of Nelson Mandela for more than 2 decades the former prison island of Robben Island is today a museum and monument to mans determination to put things right.
Located in Table Bay just off the coast of Cape Town, Robben Island is easily reached by regular ferries departing from the V & A Waterfront every hour.
On arrival a Guide, often a former inmate of the island for the incarceration of political prisoners, will take you on a tour of the buildings that remain.
Included is the cell where Mr Mandela was housed for so many years in his struggle for abolishment of apartheid and equality for all.
