Photography in Africa

Africa is a photographer’s dream.
Endless stunning landscapes and
a diverse ecology make Africa
filled with photographic opportunities. Capture the wonders
of Victoria Falls or the beauty
of Table Mountain’s table cloth. Photography tourism is booming in Africa, and offers an environmentally sound alternative to practices such as hunting.

Africa's Photo Hot Spots

With landscapes and cultures varying drastically across the continent, photographers are hard-pressed to choose a single destination to experience, however some places stand out for their extreme beauty.

Namibia, with its hard, unforgiving seas, endless deserts and vast sand dunes is a land of contrasts and great beauty. The dunes offer some remarkable photography, and the mysterious desert elephants of the Namib are something to look out for. The wild horses of the Fish River Canyon, with its harsh red rock formations are a photographers dream in this country.

Uganda and Rwanda
offer some spectacular photography, especially in the lush rainforests and gorilla areas. The contrast of lush vegetation and extreme devastation and poverty in these countries create a very poignant backdrop.

Victoria Falls, a world-heritage site,  is something not to be missed, with spectacular footage on the Zimbabwe and Zambian sides.

Cape Town offers some breathtaking photographic opportunities, especially the famous Table Mountain. A photographic trip up the cable car is highly recommended.
