Hi Kitty, as per our safety tips above, please contact the Nigeria Tourism to find out how you can have an armed guide with you. I have sent you an email with a few questions to assist you in finding an alternative trip to travel with other people. Cheers

I've done solo backpacking trips in Central America. I met people from all over Europe and would travel with them for awhile and then would take off on my own. I had no hesitencies in bumming around the place, towns and forests on my own. Always alert, but I felt fairly safe. I'm thinking about going to Niger and the other countries in the area. Are there as many backpackers in this area and is female solo backpacker at too great a risk in the wilderness here?

Hi Terrica, during the months of June and July in Nigeria temperatures average in their early twenty degrees. As it is also the rainy season Nigeria can experience hail, sleet or snow during these months which will drop temperatures. Please contact the local weather service station in Nigeria for up to date information. Cheers!

Hi Darla, Nigeria is pretty hot and humid most of the year but temperatures can differ depending on whether you are in the north or the south of the country. January is pretty dry with temps ranging from 23 to 30 most of the time and cooler at nights. Have fun!
