In the far South-east of Nigeria lies the peaceful but definitely not boring, Calabar.

Calabar is famously known to stand for its motto, 'Come And Live And Be At Rest', and Calabar budget travel tours allow you to do just that and much more.

Calabar Budget Safaris

Calabar budget safaris offer an ideal West African holidays for travellers who want a feel for true African culture and social interaction.

Calabar attracts thousands within and beyond Nigeria for the Cross River State Annual Christmas Festival, where local and international music artists perform.

As a social centre the city possesses the first social club in Nigeria – The Africa Club. Calabar also hosted the first competitive football, cricket and hockey games.

Other events that attract visitors are the annual Calabar carnival, Boat regatta, Fashion shows, Christmas Village, traditional dances and the annual Ekpe Festival.

There are two great markets in Calabar, Watt market and Marian market. Watt market is large and bustling and you can purchase anything from live chicken to cheap jeans. Marian market is smaller and vegetables arrive once a week from the north of Nigeria.
