A day-by-day breakdown of what to expect and where you'll be staying.
Day 1, Windhoek to Cheetah Park
Departing Windhoek we travel north and enter the Kunene region. We aim to arrive at Okonjima during the middle afternoon where you will be taken on a tour where you will be able to meet some of the cheetah that are going through the Africat rehabilitation programme.
Day 2, Cheetah Park to Etosha National Park
We make our way to Etosha National Park, stopping en-route only to refresh our supplies. The 22,000sq.km park is a haven for a large variety of bird and animal species and we will spend some time game driving through the southern part of it. At night you can sit at the floodlit water hole beside our camp site and see what comes to visit!
Day 3, Etosha National Park
A full day of game drives and waterhole viewing as we try to catch a glimpse of some of the plains game and Big 5 that reside in Etosha National Park.
Day 4, Etosha National Park to Kamanjab
Leaving Etosha we begin our journey south on a short drive to the small town of Kamanjab. Here we take our curiosity to a local communal carnivore conservation project. The project’s team work with farming communities and communities surrounding the Etosha National Park, helping to educate them on how to best protect livestock, mainly from lion. This venture is the first of its kind in Namibia.
Day 5, Kamanjab to Twyfelfontein
We start our day bright and early in the north Kaokoland region of Namibia where we visit the only Himba village still traditionally functioning. Spend your time learning about the marriage customs, traditional food and mysteries of the “Holy Fire” religion. We continue on to explore the beautiful desert expanse of Damaraland, making our way to Twyfelfontein where we visit the ancient bushman rock engravings.
Day 6, Twyfelfontein to Swakopmund (via Cape Cross Seal Colony)
The infamous and desolate Skeleton Coast is flanked by bone-bleaching desert and the crashing Atlantic Ocean. We arrive at Cape Cross Seal Colony for a visit before heading south to Swakopmund - Namibia's adventure capital.
Day 7, Swakopmund
A leisure day today to get the feel of this quaint German town sandwiched between the edge of a massive dune field and the ocean. Take on some adventure activities or relax in a cafe on the beachfront.
Day 8, Swakopmund to Sesriem
Today we head south, past Walvis Bay enroute to Sesriem. Close by and surrounded by a sea of sand dunes, is Sossusvlei. The top of the dunes, some over 300m high, offers fantastic views of the desert. We spend the afternoon exploring and can enjoy the glorious sunset from the top of a big dune should the weather permit.
Day 9, Sesriem to Sesriem (via Sossusvlei)
An early start as we enter into the park and head for Dune 45. Clamber to the top for a stunning high-point view over the dunes. We continue to Sossusvlei and from here you will have your own free time to explore the vlei or the surrounding area. Stunning photographic opportunities are available in the dunes so bring those cameras!!
Day 10, Sesriem to Windhoek
After watching the sunrise across this beautiful area we leave the serenity of the dunes and head north to Windhoek.
