The most typical Namibia religion you may encounter on your Overlanding Africa.com is Christianity; however a number of traditional beliefs are practiced in addition to Christianity. Despite having 'mainstream' religions, like many African countries, traditional beliefs play a key role in Namibia culture, with many practicing traditional religions alongside westernised religion.
The largest Christian group in Namibia is the Lutheran church, which is split into three churches: The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Namibia (ELCIN), the Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Republic of Namibia (ELCRN) and the German Evangelical Lutheran Church (ELCIN-GELC). Other Christian groups include Roman Catholics, Anglicans, Baptists, Methodists and Mormons. There are also a number of Zionist Churches (a mixture of traditional African beliefs and Pentecostal Christianity), especially in urban areas such as Windhoek.
