Mozambique People - Overlanding Africa.com

Mozambique people seen on your Overlanding
Africa.com trip include a number of tribal groups as well as a smaller percentage of Euro-Africans, Europeans and Indians. There are 16 major ethnic groups in Mozambique, the largest of which is the Makua of the northern region. After this group, the next largest group is the Tsonga. Other major groups include the Sena, who are found in the centre of Mozambique, and the Shangaan of the south.

The country's cultural demographic is rich and diverse, with a blend of Portuguese and African cultures resulting in a unique cultural presence that is evident in the various tribal dress, customs and music. Despite many years of colonial corruption, civil war and other challenges, Mozambique locals remain friendly and down to earth. Family plays a key role in most tribal groups, while history and story telling are also an important aspect of life to Mozambique locals.
