While Mozambique money & banking can be done in Maputo, mostly the country is fairly limited on this front. Banking hours are Monday to Friday from 07h30 to 15h30, however banks are mostly only found in the larger towns and airports. There are few ATMs in the larger towns too, but not all of these accept foreign cards. The best bet is to exchange your currency for Mozambique Metical, or for Dollars, Euros, Pounds or South African Rands, all of which are accepted to some degree.
Credit cards are accepted at some hotels and establishments – especially the dive resorts on the coast, but this is not always the case - the smaller villages and more remote areas do not have much in the way of financial facilities, so be sure to be prepared when travelling through Mozambique.
