A day-by-day breakdown of what to expect and where you'll be staying.
Day 1 to 2, Johannesburg to Mkuze Game Reserve
An early start from Johannesburg as we travel into the heart of KwaZulu Natal and head for Mkuzi Game Reserve. We explore the reserve on game drives looking for the endangered Black Rhino before taking a guided walk of a neighbouring village.
Day 3 to 5, Mkuze Game Reserve to Kosi Bay
We spend a day or 2 exploring Kosi Bay Nature Reserve on foot and by boat. A region of fertile estuary, mangroves, dune forest and lakes, we visit Bunga neck (watch Leatherback turtles laying eggs in season; November - January) and the Kosi Bay river mouth to snorkel and watch the local fisherman in the estuary.
Day 6, Kosi Bay to Hlane Royal National Park
Our camp in Hlane Game Reserve, Swaziland, is surrounded by beautiful African bushveld. We'll take a game walk with a local ranger looking for rhino, elephant and hoping to spot some fantastic bird life.
Day 7, Hlane National Park
We enter Mozambique and travel to Maputo. Portuguese and African cultures meet in an exquisite blend of seafood and vibrant life. An opportunity this evening to sample the local seafood and night life.
Day 8 to 10, Maputo to Inhambane
Arab influences are strong in Inhambane which dates back to when slaves, ivory, gold and spices were traded. We explore Inhambane with its 200 year old cathedral, before moving to the beach for a day or 2. Dhow rides, whale shark spotting, fishing and scuba diving help to pass the time here.
Day 11, Inhambane to Bilene
Southbound we drive along the coast to the town of Bilene on the shores of the Uembje lagoon. The lagoon's clear water and white, sandy beaches allow us the option of exploring using a kayak or by snorkeling.
Day 12 to 13, Bilene to Kruger National Park
Big Game Country as we enter Kruger National Park and enjoy game drives attempting to spot lions, giraffe and elephant. Tonight we relax in the tranquil bush under the big African sky.
Day 14, Kruger National Park to Johannesburg
An opportunity for a early morning game drive before we return to Johannesburg and the end of our tour.
