Morocco Safety - Is it Safe to Travel in Morocco?
For travellers who are concerned about Morocco safety – is it safe to travel in Morocco? Generally speaking, the answer is yes. Morocco generally is a safe and tourist-friendly destination, with plenty of friendly locals and a relaxed way of life. With that said however, the country has had its fair share of unrest and there is a fairly strong threat of terrorism like many other Arabic nations, and like anywhere else you visit in Africa, it is best to take basic precautions when visiting Morocco.
Petty crime can occur in the cities, especially in Casablanca, where scams and other crime is on the increase, so make sure that you keep valuables safely locked up and out of sight. Walking around with a camera in plain sight is not a good idea in the busy cities, and the same applies to jewellery and other valuables. Invest in a good money bag to keep your money in when walking around. Avoid large crowds that may turn violent, and be wary of shop owners who lure you to their stalls to look at carpets or have tea – trust your gut and don’t go anywhere alone with anyone you don’t trust.
