Situated in the Southern Hemisphere, Malawi weather is relatively tropical, with dry, cool winters and hot, wet summers and milder spring and autumns. The best time of the year is August, which has cooler weather and not much rain - this is also the busiest time however, as school holidays fall around this time. July is the coldest month, while any time during the dry season from early May to late October offers cool, dry weather.
Summer is typically between October and February, bringing plenty of rains which make it the best time for bird watching, but the worst time for game viewing. The roads are also notoriously bad during the rainy season, with mud, gaping holes and many other obstacles to try and navigate. The summers are also extremely hot and humid.
