Malawi plants range from typical woodland vegetation and grasslands, to flowing plants and other stunning species. There are 200 recorded species of orchid to be found in the Nyika Plateau area in the north, with tobacco and other crops also found.
Vegetation in Malawi
Malawi vegetation is reflected by its diverse climate and ecosystems. Dry lowland areas are largely made up of savanna, while Miombo woodland stretches out along barren slopes and plateaus. There are also more fertile plateaus dominated by grass and woodland, while in the highlands lush forest is found.
In the south a range of baobabs and acacia woodlands can be found on route to Lake Malawi, but most of this area comprises of Miombo woodland.
