Hi Dvora, it all depends what your definition of 'cheap' is. There are budget tours available in Madagascar however they only run with a minimum of 6 persons so it can be tricky getting on a tour that will actually run. I have emailed you some information to point you in the right direction for tours in Madagascar. With regards to visas, check out www.projectvisa.com for more information. Happy trails!

hi, do you know of any cheap tours to Madagascar? Can South Africans get a visa when they get there and how much does it cost?

Do you know of any backpacking/camping trips that are easy on the pocket and cover Madacascar from N to South to get a good feel for the country and its flora/fauna - I just sem to be able to find 1 or two specialist operators who charge the earth. Any recommendations ? Thanks

Whew Annelien - what a good question! I am not aware of such a vehicle ferry operating as a scheduled service but they must have got vehicles over there some how right?! :) I understand that vehicles can be 'exported' to Madagascar by cargo or container ship but it is very expensive. I can only suggest you contact a Port Authority in either of those countries or perhaps a import/export clearing agent for advice. Good luck!

Hi, I would like to find out whether there is a 'pont' (a boat that can transport a vehicle) that runs between Mozambique and Madagascar? Do you know or can you refer me to someone who might be able to tell me? Thank you!
