About St. Marie Island

St. Marie Island – wow, what a paradise. You’ll find this place of incredible beauty just off the east coast of Madagascar. Locals know the island as Île Sainte-Marie and when in a more formal context the island is called Nosy Boraha.

St. Marie Island is a good 10 km wide and 60 km long and is filled with the lushest spreads of thriving nature with its resident tree-loving lemurs and the humpback whales that play in the island’s surrounding water.

St. Marie Island is hugged by the clearest water you’ll ever come across and its coastal shores are dusted with white sandy beaches and vegetation that grow like green leafy afros.

If you’re not relaxing on the beach or venturing off to tackle some of the area’s nature on a scenic walk, then grab a canoe and go play in the island’s waters.

There’s just something about watching the sun sinking behind the St Marie Island sea. What a picture.

You’ll find a string of great lodges perched right on the island’s beaches. Roll out of bed and onto the beach in less than 60 seconds!

St. Marie Island is home to lush vegetation that’s thick and thriving on the island.

Travellers who enjoy tropical locations will fall in love with the green-greens, blue-blues and local culture of St. Marie Island. Don’t miss an opportunity to leave your footprints on the island…
