Beirut Conservation

Beirut conservation is seen as important, as the capital city is a focal point for the whole of Lebanon. Lebanon is a signatory nation to the Convention on Biological Diversity, an international treaty which provides guidelines for countries to manage their biological resources, but also ensures that local people are able to access these resources and make use of them using sustainable methods. Beirut conservation includes management of forestry, national reserves, mountain and marine ecosystems and water and waste management. Beirut has a world-class university which conducts courses on conservation, and partners with other international academic institutions in developing conservation methods.

Preservation Beirut

Preservation Beirut includes protecting antiquities, including ancient ruins and architecture, as well as the creation and maintaining of national parks. Museums and academic institutions have sought to preserve the cultural and natural heritages of Lebanon, and many of these institutions have their bases in Beirut.
