Beirut Airports

The largest of nearby Beirut airports is Beirut International Airport, which is located 5km south of the city centre in the capital of Beirut, and is the largest and most well-organised airport in Lebanon. The airport serves international and local flights, with Middle East Airlines offering daily flights to all major destinations across Europe and beyond.

Airports in Lebanon

As Lebanon is a relatively small country, airports in Beirut and surrounds are either military airports or the passenger orientated Beirut airport. Beirut International Airport is a stately airport, partly due to its extensive reconstruction, and partly due to it being named after the assassinated Prime Minister who spent years developing Beirut into what it is today, and partly because it has survived for as long as it has. It was opened in 1954, and has weathered the Israeli attack on Lebanon, as well as the Lebanese Civil War. In fact, it has grown stronger after each war, and is now a world-class airport.

It is still being developed, so travelers can expect the service to continually improve, from better runways to new restaurants and general facilities.
