Knysna Forest

Virtually untouched, the Knysna Forest is a bit of paradise in the heart of the Garden Route.

Once home to over 500 Elephants this area was also the living and working world of the famous woodcutters of the Knsyna.

Take a walk through the Knysna Forest and enjoy a real forest experience with birds, mushrooms, bushbuck, baboons and 600 year old Outeniqua Yellowwood trees, which is also South Africa’s National tree.

The Knysna Forest is the largest indigenous forest in South Africa comprising of tall and ancient trees of local and exotic species including Stinkwood, Yellowwood, Blackwood, Ironwood, White alders and the Cape Chestnut. Not forgetting the ferns (some of them up to 3 meters high!) creepers and wild flowers which add colour to this endless green collage.

A truly magnificent experience!

Why do the Knysna Forest?

Pristine forest environment Vibrant wildlife and ancient trees Exotic plant life Magical and peaceful paradise
