Kenya Conservation

Kenya conservation includes a number of projects that aims to protect and preserve the country’s wildlife, which faces endangerment and vulnerability.

About 10% of the country is designated protected land, with over 50 national parks and reserves situated throughout the country. Hunting and poaching is illegal, as is shooting or killing an animal – even if it is charging. Kenya also fully supports the ivory ban, and has made it illegal to sell ivory products or any hunting related products in the country.

Despite these efforts, illegal poaching and hunting remain a huge problem, and with the ivory demand so high, the problem is exuberated.

Preservation Kenya

Preservation Kenya includes an increase in protected lands, and greater control around these areas to prevent poaching and hunting.

The tourism industry is vital to bring money to Kenya’s economy, without having to resort to previous methods such as trophy hunting or animal skin exports.

Kenya’s preservation and conservation laws and practices are hailed as some of Africa’s most progressive, despite the challenges the country faces.
