A day-by-day breakdown of what to expect and where you'll be staying.
Day 1, Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
We travel via the Masai escarpment, providing spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley, to Lake Nakuru National Park. This park is famous for its large populations of Pink Flamingos as well as both Black and White Rhinos.
Day 2, Lake Nakuru National Park
We spend another day exploring the Lake Nakuru National park in search of the Big 5.
Day 3, Lake Nakuru National Park to Eldoret
Leaving Nakuru we travel north through the mountainous highlands of Eldoret (meaning Stoney River).
Day 4, Eldoret to Jinja
From Eldoret we cross into the green landscapes of Uganda and visit the town of Jinja, near the source of the Nile River.
Day 5, Jinja
Spend the day taking up some of the adventure activities on offer such as rafting the Nile, visit the local community project or take part in a quad bike trip along the riverbank. If that is a bit too much effort then relax in the camp perched on the edge of the river!
Day 6, Jinja to Kampala
Further along the shore of Lake Victoria we arrive in Kampala, Uganda’s vibrant capital city, set amidst seven hills and bustling with markets and roadside traders.
Day 7 to 8, Kampala to Lake Bunyoni (via Queen Elizabeth National Park)
We set off bright and early, leaving Kampala behind. Our sights are set on Queen Elizabeth National Park. Once in the park, you'll get a chance to spot wildlife on a morning game drive. Elephant, lion, buffalo, hyena and hippo roam the park, as well as the Uganda Kob (a type of antelope). Nearby the park we visit the Kyambura Gorge where we'll trek to see the chimpanzees. Seeing man's closest relative in the wild is a truly memorable experience. Venturing on, we enter the Kigezi Highlands and arrive at the picturesque Lake Bunyoni.
Day 9 to 11, Kabale to Kabale (via Lake Bunyoni)
We are based in the South West of Uganda beside Lake Bunyoni, it is in this desely forested area that we trek in search of the gorillas. The trek can be demanding but all worth it once we come across a family of Gorillas. We have a one-hour 'audience' with these gentle giants. On the days that you do not trek, you have the option to visit the local village, hike, canoe, swim, catch up on writing your postcards... or relax, and sit back and enjoy the beautiful lake and its creatures.
Day 12, Lake Bunyoni to Kampala
We return to Kampala after enjoying the peaceful surrounds of Lake Bunyoni. We cross the equator for the second time and there will be ample opportunity for photos at the Equator crossing. If you want to try out Kampala's night life then tonight is your chance!
Day 13 to 14, Kampala to Nairobi (via Eldoret)
From Kampala we cross back into Kenya. We make a stop in Eldoret before arriving in the city of Nairobi.
Day 15, Nairobi
Today is spent at leisure to enjoy a variety of optional activities and attractions in this bustling African city.
Day 16, Nairobi to Masai Mara
We depart from the bustling city of Nairobi and leave for our first viewpoint where we stop to overlook the Great African Rift Valley. We then descend into the valley and enter Masai land. The Masai, habitual pastoralists are seen quite regularly on the side of the road as they tend their cattle. We arrive at our campsite in the early evening in time to enjoy sunset over the plains of the Masai Mara.
Day 17, Masai Mara
We will look for the infamous Big 5 as well as the plentiful plains game and birdlife on our game drives. You will see this 'garden of Eden' in a state nature intended it to be, rolling hills, huge plains, and an abundance of game matched no where else on earth. Buffalo, elephant, lion, cheetah, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck just to name a few of the animals that inhabit this wild wonderland. Sitting around a campfire listening to the bush sounds, whilst watching the sun set is the perfect way to finish a day's game viewing in the Mara.
Day 18, Masai Mara to Nairobi
Leaving the Masai Mara, we head out of the surrounding area where we still catch a glimpse of the game that has migrated into the Masai land region. We reach Nairobi in the late afternoon.
