The Masai Mara National Park is, without a doubt, the most popular
park in Kenya. It boasts a diversity of wildlife that roam freely
throughout the acacia savannah and rolling grasslands. "Out
of Africa" is one of the films that has used the setting of
the Masai Mara Park for its depiction of what the "true Africa"
is about.
There are prides of lions scattered all over the Masai Mara Park,
making it easy to spot one of the greatest members of the "Big
5". The lions have become accustomed to prying humans and do
not shy away from vehicles. The park is also home to giraffe, hippo,
elephant, eland, zebra, jackal and wildebeest which make for great
game viewing.
The most fascinating occurence in this park is during July/ August
when the wildlife migrate and have to cross the Mara River in Kenya.
Herds of wildlife die in the frenzied migration, making it a feast
for crocodiles. The Masai Mara National Park in Kenya is worth a
visit as it offers unsurpassed beauty and game spotting opportunities!
