Kenya Overland Tours
Lake Turkana is the most northern lake of the Great Rift Valley
lakes and is a vast expanse of jade green water that creates an
eerie barrenness. Due to the high salinity levels there is practically
no wildife or plant life that lives in the lake, hence the eerieness
of the area. Thorn trees sparsely populate Lake Turkana and the
conditions of the area are harsh.
Several tribes have managed to settle in the area and adjust to
the harsh conditions. These tribes are part of the few remaining
practicing desert tribes.
Surrounding the lake are beautiful volcanic outcrops and the contrasting
images and isolated beauty makes for spectacular photography. Experience
this area of Kenya and you will have experienced a truly remarkable
and unique destination.
