A day-by-day breakdown of what to expect and where you'll be staying.
Day 1, Nairobi
Today is spent at leisure to enjoy all the optional activities and attractions in this bustling African city.
Day 2, Nairobi to Nanyuki
Leaving the hustle and bustle of Nairobi we head north, crossing the equator, before reaching the market town of Nanyuki. Nanyuki is home to the main base of Kenya’s Air Force and is popular amongst tourists because of it’s proximity to Mount Kenya, Kenya’s highest peak.
Day 3, Nanyuki to Samburu National Park
Leaving this old frontier town, we head to the Samburu National Reserve encountering the semi-nomadic proud Samburu along the way.
Day 4, Samburu National Park to Lake Nakuru National Park
Leaving the unique Samburu National Reserve, we travel via Nanyuki heading west towards the Great Rift Valley. Nakuru is the fourth largest town in Kenya and also the capital of the Rift Valley.
Day 5, Lake Nakuru National Park
After restocking our supplies in town we explore the Lake Nakuru National Park - a soda lake that is famous for the huge volumes of lesser and greater flamingos that flock here. A truly spectacular sight! We also keep an eye out for Black and White Rhino, Leopard, Buffalo, Giraffe, antelope and the occasional Hippo before spending the night at a bush camp within the Park.
Day 6, Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara
We enter Masai land today and could see these colourful folk keeping an eye on their roadside herds. We pass through Narok before arriving at our campsite overlooking the Meguarra hills and the Masai Mara National Reserve.
Day 7, Masai Mara
We will look for the infamous Big 5 as well as the plentiful plains game and birdlife on our game drives. You will see this 'garden of Eden' in a state nature intended it to be, rolling hills, huge plains, and an abundance of game matched no where else on earth. Buffalo, elephant, lion, cheetah, zebra, wildebeest, waterbuck just to name a few of the animals that inhabit this wild wonderland. Sitting around a campfire listening to the bush sounds, whilst watching the sun set is the perfect way to finish a day's game viewing in the Mara.
Day 8, Masai Mara to Nairobi
A final game drive in the 'Mara' before we head back to the bustling capital of Nairobi.
Day 9, Nairobi to Stone Town, Zanzibar
Today we fly to Zanzibar! (Not included in tour price). We meet up with our local guide and transfer to our guest house, in the heart of Stonetown.
Day 10, Stone Town
Our day in Stone Town is at leisure to take in all the sights and sounds of Zanzibar - mosques and crumbling Arabian houses, local children running by with excited shouts and veiled woman gliding past in flowing robes. Stone Town offers many optional activities to keep you occupied.
Day 11 to 12, Zanzibar Island
Zanzibar offers a wealth of experiences for the visitor. The quiet streets of the old Stone Town still retain their Arabic influence. With pretty Medina-like shops, the palaces of the Sultans, its spices, tours around a spice plantation - there is something for everyone on this island. You can even hire a motorbike and explore the more remote areas of Zanzibar.
Day 13, Stone Town
We bid farewell to the beautiful beaches and friendly people of Zanzibar as our tour comes to an end.
