Jordan Safety - Is it Safe to Travel in Jordan?
For travellers concerned with Jordan safety – is it safe to travel in Jordan? Jordan safety is comparatively high, and as a very tourist-friendly country, hotels and other venues across the cities of Jordan have increased security measures in order to ensure the safety of their guests, and local law enforcement and the military maintain a constant presence, and it is said to be safe to walk around even after dark.
Despite this, the bigger cities of Jordan still pose a minor risk of petty crime, so the usual precautions apply, such as keeping valuables out of sight, using reputable local companies and avoiding crowds where demonstrations are taking place. Look out for licensed taxis and do not ever take the unlicensed ones as these have been known to scam tourists from time to time.
The risk of terrorist attacks does still exist across the Middle East – especially near the borders of Iraq and Israel, however, this has also decreased since the situation in Iraq has stabilised somewhat. To be safe, avoid any large demonstrations or crowds that could turn violent, and keep an extra vigilant approach when you are in the city.
