Jordan Religion - Overlanding Africa.com

Jordan religion seen on your Overlanding Africa.com safari travel includes predominately Sunni Muslim, with a smaller percentage of Christianity. Jordan is fairly progressive in its attitude and tolerance towards religious choice, and Jordanians are freely encouraged and permitted to practice any religion of their choice. With that said, the country has been large Islam for centuries, even if the culture has adapted over the years to be more tolerant and accepting.

Christians are a religious minority both among the Arab and non-Arab segment, with Christians of all ethnic backgrounds living in Jordan. Interestingly enough, Christians made up 30% of the Jordanian population in 1950 - immigration to Canada, Europe and the United States and low birth rates in comparison to Muslims eventually decreased this number of the past few decades.  Other religious minorities groups in Jordan include adherents to the Druze and Bahá'í Faith.
