Ghana Wildlife

Ghana wildlife is rich and diverse, with a large number of mammals, reptiles, insects and marine species to be found across the country’s varied habitats.

There are a number of national parks situated throughout Ghana which have some of the biggest wildlife populations, including Mole National Park, Bia National Park, Bui National Park, Digya National Park, Kakum National Park, Kyabobo Range National Park, Mole National Park and Nini-Suhien National Park.

Animals in Ghana

Animals in Ghana are abundant, and play a key role in the country’s biodiversity. Many species found in Ghana are not found anywhere else outside of West Africa.
 
There are about 504 fish, 225 mammals, 221 species of amphibians and reptiles to be found in Ghana.

Wildlife species to be seen includes forest and savannah elephants, hippo, lions, leopards, hyenas, chimpanzee, baboons, 7 species of monkey, 3 species of crocodile, buffalo, various antelopes, wild cat, bats, mongoose, dwarf mongoose, pangolin, whales, genet, jackal, clawless otter, warthog, hedgehog, manatee, aardvark and many other species.
