What to Pack for your Ghana Safari?
You’re planning a safari across West Africa – but now to decided what to pack for your Ghana safari?
Ghana has a hot and humid climate, which is also very religious and conservative. Loose, lightweight clothing with long sleeves, in comfortable fabrics like cotton are therefore a good idea. These will keep you cool, and will also protect you from mosquitoes.
A pair of good, sturdy walking or hiking shoes is essential – these should ideally also be waterproof. Sandals are also a good idea for travel along the coast, and a swimming costume for Ghana’s beautiful beaches is also a good idea.
The weather can be very wet and a bit cooler in the rainy season, so bring a warm jacket and a rain coat if you are travelling through Ghana during wet months.
A pair of sunglasses, plus a sunhat and a high factor sunscreen is highly essential for all times of year – the sun can get very hot in West Africa.
A camera with spare batteries and film or memory, and a pair of binoculars are also important to spot birds and wildlife.
