Fishing in Africa
Fishing is a very popular activity
across Africa, with an abundance
of fresh water and salt water
fish to be found. Fishing
ranges from deep sea charters
to fly fishing in lakes.
Game Fishing in Mozambique
One of the most popular fishing destinations in Africa is Mozambique, where big game fish like marlon, swordfish and other large species of fish can be caught. While catch and release is preferred due to the interests of preserving stocks, fishermen are permitted to take home their catches.
Top Fishing Destinations in Africa
East Africa, in particular Kenya, is another popular region for fishing. Fresh water fishing is exceptional in most parts of Kenya, with huge trout to be found in rivers.
Fly fishing is popular in South Africa, with some excellent spots in the Drakensberg mountain area – which sets a perfect backdrop to the calm ritual of fly fishing.
Cape Town is also a fisherman’s paradise, with charters going from Hout Bay and the Waterfront ranging from deep sea to angling.
Catch and Release
Please note however, that only fish that are not protected or endangered are permitted to be caught, so it is advisable to check which fish are safe to catch before leaving. Fish should be caught, weighed and released.

The highlight of my trip had to be Gweru in Zimbabwe, it was my idea of paradise. So much to do there with the animals and the location of it was just beautiful!
