What to Pack for your Ethiopia Safari?

Just booked our thrilling African adventure – now wondering what to pack for your Ethiopia safari?

Packing for Ethiopia is much like packing for any conservative African country. Women should pack suitable clothing that covers their knees and shoulders, and loose lightweight clothing with long sleeves is a good idea to protect against mosquitoes.

The weather can be chilly in winter, especially near the mountains, so a warm jacket is advised. A rain coat is recommended for the rainy season, while sunglasses, sunhat and sunscreen are a good idea all year round.

As many of the rivers and lakes in Ethiopia are not very safe for swimming, you will probably not need a swimming costume – however some hotels may have swimming pools.

You will be doing a lot of walking, so a pair of comfortable, sturdy walking or hiking shoes is advised. Sandals are also a good idea.

Also pack your camera, with extra battery, and spare film or memory sticks. A pair of binoculars is also a good idea to pack to help you spot various birds and wildlife easily.
