Gondar, also called Gonder, is a city in Ethiopia and offers a unique and fascinating destination for tours in Africa.

This little town is rich in ancient culture and Gondar budget travel is highly recommended on any North African travel experience.

Gondar Budget Safaris

Gondar budget safaris include a number of interesting attractions, most of them fairly low cost, making it a good destination for budget travel.

One of the more expensive attractions however includes the 17th Century Gondar Castle, which is a tiny version of Camelot. Entrance and a guided tour around the castle is a steep 50 Birr, plus a tip for the guide.

Other attractions include the Debre Birhan Selassie Church nearby, with its beautiful 17th-18th Century wall paintings. Entrance to this church is 25 Birr, but student prices are negotiable.

Accommodation options range from very cheap to a bit more pricey, with a range of good rooms available, with good food on offer.

Simien National Park is situated within 3 hours of the city, and is available by bus at reasonable rates. This area is prime camping location, and guides are available to hire for a trek through the Simien Mountains.
