Vaccinations for England

Generally you will not need to worry much about vaccinations for England – vaccination requirement for England are fairly minimal.

As a first world country, England has very few serious health threats which require immunization, although you may need to be vaccinated if you are travelling from a country which does have higher incidents of serious diseases.

Travellers from Africa, especially West, Central, East and North Africa will need a Yellow Fever shot before entering England to ensure that you are not carrying the disease. You should also have this vaccine if you are travelling to one of these areas from England.

Two doses of the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine are recommended for all travellers born after 1956, who have not had this vaccine previously.

A tetanus-diphtheria revaccination is recommended every 10 years, and is fairly important even in a first world country with top rate medical facilities.

During winter months from November to April an influenza vaccine is highly recommended – especially for travellers who are not used to snowy and very cold and wet conditions.
