England Religion

England religion you may find on your OverlandingAfrica.com trip will mostly include Christianity, with additional minority religions practiced to some extent.

Christianity is widely practiced, with the majority of Christian beliefs tending towards Anglicism and Protestantism, with some Catholicism.  The Church of England is the national church, and is a key religious building alongside Stonehenge, the Angel of the North, Westminster Abbey, St Paul's Cathedral and Canterbury Cathedral.

A large portion of the English population are non-religious, or do not practice any religion, while in the latest 2007 census, others declined to state their religion.

Islam is practiced to a fairly small degree, with some 2.7% of the population practicing Islam. Mosques include the London Central Mosque, Al-Rahma mosque, Birmingham Central Mosque, East London Mosque, Finsbury Park Mosque, London Markaz and Markazi mosque.

Hindi and Sikh religions are also both practiced to a small degree, with a number of temples to be found – especially in the London area.

There is also a small percentage of Jewish followers in England, and a number of Buddhists can also be found.
