England Plants

England plants include a large number of trees, flowering plants, crops, fruit trees and shrub. One of the most famous plants of England is the rose, which is the national flower and can be found in many forms from red roses to climbing roses.

Vegetation in England

Vegetation in England is rich and varied, and changes throughout the country.

England was once heavily forested, but woodlands now make up only about 8% of the total land area. Tree species found in the remaining woodlands area include oak, beech, pine, birch, elm, ash, Alder, Crab Apple, Hazel, Maple, Poplar, Willow and yew.

Farmlands with pasteurised green grass make up about half the countryside, with a number of crops such as wheat, oats, barley and peas occupying additional pastures. Various orchards can also be found, including cherry, apple, and plum.

Moorland and heathland occupy about a quarter of the country, and include vegetation such as gorse, flowering heathers and other shrubs.

Numerous varieties of wildflowers are also found in countryside areas and woodlands including snowdrops, daffodils, bluebells, primroses, buttercups and cowslips.
