Egypt Wildlife
Egypt wildlife includes a large number of desert-dwelling creatures as well as marine, river and grassland animals which can be found across the country’s eco-regions.
A number of species are protected or vulnerable, and hunting of these species is strictly prohibited. This includes the manatee as well as the Sand Boa desert snake which preys on rodents, which in turn controls rodent numbers.
Rodents make up the country’s largest percentage of animal groups, with about 40% of the country’s animal population being part of this group.
