Egypt Transport

Egypt transport options vary from car, to bus, train or taxi –all offering varying degrees of reliability and price.

Getting around Egypt

There are a number of cheap and reliable options for getting around Egypt, all of which offer a fairly quick transport option.

Car Travel in Egypt
Self-drive is not ideal, as driving in Egypt can be very daunting and chaotic. Cars drive on the right, and traffic can be very bad from 3h00 PM onwards.

Bus Travel in Egypt
Buses run throughout the city, and are fairly reliable and affordable. These are a bit less scary than taxis, and are able to navigate over the roads much easier due to their size.

Train Travel in Egypt

Trains are reliable and fairly cheap. First class is generally the most comfortable, although second class is manageable for short trips. Anything under that is extremely sub-standard.

Taxi Travel in Egypt

Yellow cabs are generally the best and safest, and a bit more expensive than regular taxis – which may be cheaper, but are also much more nerve-wracking. Driving is extremely reckless and aggressive, and drivers will try and bargain heavily to be warned!
